The weeks are flying by now!

It's hard to believe we're in the last week of February isn't it!

It's another busy week ahead at MarLou's too ...

Wednesday Night the "House Band" returns for a jam session. If you want to join in by all means do, bring an instrument & play along! Let's make MarLou's Music Night a regular date in everybodys' diaries.

Thursday it's Quiz Night from 8pm

Saturday at 9pm it's karaoke with your guest host Cactus Jack aka Pegleg.

Speaking of karaoke, last night we had an impromptu karaoke after all the diners had left. Great fun was had by all & I didn't even get to sing ....... STOP cheering at the back! Anyway, just so you know, MarLou's always has the facitity for such un-planned karaoke evenings available. It's the benefit of having all the equipment & the host as the owner of the business ;-)

Enjoy your week

Community Night Results ...

Many thanks to Colin, Cindy, Pat & Marcie for supporting our Community Night. We raised RD65, giving a final total of RD390 to be split between the Security Committee & the CRIC.

Somewhat ironically it was pointed out that "the people supporting the community are those who can't vote & those that were not voted in".

Again thanks to those who supported our efforts. Maybe we can find some other way in the future that we can help the community...

On a brighter note, it's Valentine's day this Tuesday. MarLou's is closed, but Sam's Bar at L'Oase is hosting a Valentine's Dinner.

Enjoy your evening, personally I'm cooking Louise a romantic dinner for two :-)

Here's the promised video ..

Explaining Our Menu.

Here at MarLou’s Restaurant we pride ourselves on offering an eclectic menu featuring dishes you would not normally find elsewhere.

Louise spent six months developing this menu, all the while keeping in mind our guiding principles, our “recipe for success” if you will.

Our Guiding Principles.

Consistency.

We want you to be confident that any dish you order will taste the same every time. In order to achieve this all our recipes are written down and are followed to the letter every time we prepare your meal.

Quality.

We endeavour to use only top quality ingredients in our food. Unfortunately, sometimes we have difficulty finding certain items, this can result in dishes being temporarily unavailable.

Wholesome, Healthy Food.

If our customers remain healthy, our business remains healthy.

We do not deep-fry our food.

Our Chicken Cordon Bleu is oven-baked, the Pork Escalopes and sausages are shallow-fried in sunflower oil (which we ensure is at the correct temperature to prevent the meat being saturated).

We do not over-spice our food.

We cook our potatoes & fresh vegetables in lightly salted water to speed up the cooking times & preserve the nutrients. If you want you can order sauces “on the side” and add just what you want.

We do not overcook our food.

You won’t find mushy pasta, rice or vegetables at MarLou’s, just pasta al-dente, fluffy rice and crisp nutritious vegetables.

Ladies & Gentlemen ... MarLou's House Band

Last night, as promised, we had a live jam session at MarLou's.

Allan, Mike & Bob entertained us with a selection of blues, pop & jazz numbers & we all agreed that they sounded great!

Hopefully they will join us again soon. Below is a picture of them & hopefully soon I will have a short video montage of their performance for you to see - subject to the bands' approval.

Live music & a new menu item

Tomorrow, Wednesday 8th, we are having some live music at MarLou's. Our neighbour Allan & his professional musician friend Michael will be having a jam session at MarLou's. We've been hearing them practise & it sounds very bluesy/jazzy. So if you want a little something different you know where to be on Wednesday.

Louise must be getting better because she's created a new vegetarian sauce. Tomato, basil & carrot. Nothing else, no oil or fat. Served how you like it, with pasta, rice or on the side. Healthy wholesome home-cooked food.

Don't forget Saturday night is karaoke from 9pm(ish) & Monday is Costambar Community Night. Let's see if we can exceed the stunning total raised this week! (Oh dear, I sound like one of those cheesy telethon hosts now!)

Enjoy your week
Mark & Louise

The results of the second Costambar Community Night

Tonight resulted in a donation of RD0.

This will be equally divided between the Security Committee & the CRIC.

P.S.
Nobody from either committee has been in to collect last weeks' donation which totalled RD325 ...

We ran out of beer last night ...

Well, it was closing time so I drank the last one so there would be no arguements about it lol.

Karaoke was in parts painful - sorry to those who had to endure Louise & my duet - & in parts umm raucous.

Here's some pictures of the guilty parties.

We didn't have a chance to tell everybody the news last night ...

We were so busy at Quiz Night that I'm afraid some of you may have missed the announcements.

There will be no quiz next week because many quizzers are off to Samana for whale-watching. However MarLou's will still be open & maybe I'll play some whalesong for those who are not on the trip ;-)

I've decided the blog is a tad dull - not enough pictures - so on Monday's Comminity Night we will be prowling with our camera & uploading the pictures of the Community supporters with the details of our fund-raising totals. We hope to see you there!

Enjoy your weekend
